International Day of Peace

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the International Day of Peace. Something to think about always, but in these times especially...

"There is nothing easier than lopping off heads and nothing harder than developing ideas."

World peace, yeah. Pray for the end of ignorance and arrogance, really. I remember being a boy and then a young man and seeing an amoral war (as we called it then) go on and on. Even the 12c comic books depicting World War II platoons ended their stories with, Make War No More. The poster in my room said, What If They Gave a War And Nobody Came? Then the war was over (the scene on the embassy roof of the desperate people climbing into a solitary helicopter, the end of hubris), and surely we would never go there again. Well now it's back, as those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. Allowing power to vest in the current crew like the Decider and the Great Bird Hunter. Indeed!
